Brexit Information and Resources
The UK left the European Union on 31st January 2020 with the benefit of a "Withdrawal Agreement". It provided for a "transition period" of 11 months during which the UK continued to follow EU rules and trade was not affected, giving both sides time to negotiate the future relationship. The transition period ends on 31 December 2020 and the deadline for extending it has now passed.
For people who are unsure about what they need to do, Cancer Support France is able to provide guidance to UK nationals currently resident in France who need to establish their residency and healthcare rights after Brexit. Through the information on this website and our Forum, trained CSF volunteers aim to guide you towards sources of reliable information.
The information provided here is correct at the time of writing, however the user should check for accuracy, particularly as procedures across France differ from one department to another.

From the 1st July 2021, every UK citizen resident in France must have or must have applied for a residency permit. For UK citizens who already have residency permits with an expiration date after 30th June 2021, these remain valid until 30th June 2021. A new permit, applied for on-line before this date, will still be necessary to reflect that UK citizens are no longer citizens of the EU.
UK citizens who do not have residency permits MUST apply for these before 30th June 2021.
The application must be made on-line and there are FAQs to help you if you encounter a problem. There is also a contact email address for additional concerns here:
If you do not have access to a computer then your prefecture should have a special desk with a computer for you to be able to make your application.
